The three-day India International Fabric Expo-2013 held at Colombo saw international buyers appreciating Surat fabrics, including saris and dress materials.This was the first time that the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) had set up a separate pavilion named 'Discover Surat', to display textile fabrics and designs from the city, including embroidery. The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), the apex body of apparel exports in India, has urged the government to keep the momentum of growth rolling as it is important that the manufacturing sector starts picking up fast. The Intimate Apparel Association of India (IAAI) recently hosted its largest gathering till date with the second round of Galleria Intima, at the Grand Hyatt, Goa. The event was a massive success, with participants from 15 countries and more than 850 intimate apparel manufacturers visiting it.
